Which Louisiana courts accept this course?

The course is confirmed approved by the 1st Parish Court in Jefferson Parish. If your court isn't on the list, contact them directly to request permission before enrolling.

Will this course dismiss my ticket?

It can, with your court's approval. Louisiana courts approve ticket dismissal on an individual basis — and under Louisiana law, you're eligible for dismissal once every two years. Confirm with your court clerk before enrolling to make sure your citation qualifies.

Does Louisiana have a points system?

No. Louisiana doesn't use a point system, but traffic violations appear on your Louisiana driving record and can cause your insurance rates to rise. The Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) monitors your record — dismissing your ticket through this course keeps violations from showing up and affecting your rates.

Is there a final exam?

Yes. The final exam is 25 multiple-choice questions and requires an 80% or higher to pass. Unlimited retakes are available.

How long does the course take?

4 hours total across 8 chapters. Fully self-paced — finish in one sitting or spread it out.

Will this course lower my insurance rate?

It may. Many Louisiana insurers offer discounts of up to 10% to drivers who complete a Louisiana defensive driving course. Check with your provider before enrolling to confirm you qualify.

How is my certificate delivered?

I Drive Safely emails your certificate of completion the same day you complete the course. Submit it to your court by your assigned deadline and keep a copy for your records.
