There are a couple of options for completing your behind-the-wheel training, depending on your preference and age:
Option 1: Parent Instructor Route (Ages 15 and Up)
If you'd prefer to go the more flexible route, you can complete your 44 hours of practice driving with your parent or legal guardian as your designated instructor. This allows you to start right away and work at your own pace without needing to take the written permit test right away. Just remember:
- You'll still need to complete the required 14 hours of in-car instruction with your parent instructor.
- You’ll need to document your 30 hours of driving practice (including 10 hours at night).
- Your parent must meet all the requirements to be an authorized instructor for you to proceed with this option.
You can sign up for Parent-Taught Driver’s Ed through Aceable, which provides you with all the tools you need for your in-car training. Sign up for Parent-Taught Driver's Ed through Aceable here!
This is a great option if you want more flexibility with your schedule, and Aceable will guide you every step of the way.
