Hotel Chains That Welcome Dogs
Planning on traveling or taking a road trip with your dog? There’s no reason for them to have to sleep in the car (which you should never do anyways); pet-friendly hotel chains have risen in the past few years to accommodate the growing number of owners who take their pets along with them. In fact, a survey by the American Pet Products Association revealed that a whopping 37 percent of pet owners take their pets along when they travel.
Here are a few hotel chains that offer pet-friendly accommodations (and some with additional perks for your best friend!).
Aloft welcomes dogs up to 40 pounds. Their pet-friendly program also offers a complimentary bed, bowl and doggie bag of treats and toys. If your dog weighs more than 40 pounds, Aloft recommends contacting the hotel directly to discuss a waiver.
Every Kimpton hotel allows pets (dog or otherwise) free of charge, with no restrictions on size, weight or breed.
At Loews hotels, your dog can truly live like a king or queen. Perks include a “welcome gift,” which includes a name tag, name tag, bowl and special treats. Loews also offers loans on pet beds, litter boxes, toys and “gourmet room service” for your pup. Hotels can also provide dog-walking route maps, doggie pick-up bags and recommendations for nearby parks and local pet-friendly cafes and restaurants. All of this extravagance does come at a price, however; pet fees vary by hotel, and Loews limits guests to two pets per room.
While pet policies may vary by location, most W hotels allow pets with an additional pet fee and a non-refundable cleaning fee. Generally, only one pet is allowed per room and must be less than 40 pounds. If your dog exceeds the weight limit, contact your individual hotel to see if the hotel manager can make an exception.
Most Marriott hotels allow pets, but many will charge an additional pet fee.
Budget Travel Options
Motel 6 is famously known for allowing pets for free with a limit of two pets per room.
Best Western hotels are super pet-friendly, and allow up to two domestic dogs in a rented room (maximum size of 80 pounds per animal). There may be a maximum charge of $20 per day for each room with a pet or multiple pets, or a maximum charge per week of $100. A refundable damage deposit of up to $50 per stay may be required of all guests with a pet.
Pets are always welcome at La Quinta - the hotel chain doesn’t require a deposit, but does limit each room to no more than two domestic pets.
There are no additional pet fees at Red Roof Inns, which makes this a super budget-friendly option for you and your pup.
