What is the Ohio knowledge test?
The Ohio knowledge test (also called the temps test) is a multiple-choice exam you must pass to get your temporary instruction permit. It covers traffic laws, road signs, and safe driving practices.
Who needs to take the Ohio temps test?
Anyone under 18 in Ohio who wants to start drivers ed and eventually earn a drivers license must first pass the knowledge test and get a Temporary Instruction Permit Identification Card (TIPIC).
How do I take the Ohio permit test?
You can take the temps test at an Ohio BMV Driver Exam Station. Be sure to bring proof of identity, residency, and parental consent if you're under 18. The test is taken on a computer and must be passed with a score of 75% or higher.
Is this course required to take the test?
Nope—this course is optional but super helpful. It’s designed to boost your confidence and help you pass on your first try by focusing on exactly what the BMV wants you to know.
What happens if I fail the knowledge test?
