Florida Online Drivers Ed Courses (DETS/TLSAE) & Permit Exam

At the end of each level is a level assessment consisting of 10 questions. The questions will be a mix of multiple-choice and true/false questions. You must score at least 80% or better (at least 8 out of 10 questions correct) in order to pass and go on to the next level. If you fail a level assessment, you can take it again. There is no limit on how many times you can take a level assessment and you don't have to pay again to take a level assessment more than once.

Yes—if you’re under 18. In Florida, the written permit test is widely called the “Florida Permit Exam”, but the state’s official name is the Knowledge Exam (FLHSMV refers to it as the Class E Knowledge Exam).

How to take the permit test (Knowledge Exam) with Aceable (15–17):

1. Make sure you qualify. You must be 15–17 and have completed Florida’s required education course (Aceable lists this as DETS completed/passed).

2. Purchase the exam. The exam can be purchased separately or in a DETS bundle through Aceable.

3. Take the test online. Complete the official permit exam on your computer/phone.

4. Complete the required parent proctoring form. Florida requires a Parent Proctoring Form for online tests taken by applicants under 18 (must be notarized or signed in front of an examiner).

5. Wait for processing, then go get your permit. Aceable notes your results can be available quickly (often within 72 hours) and FLHSMV notes online third-party exam results are submitted electronically (no paper certificate needed).

If you are under 18, you can get your license when you meet all of the following requirements:

• You're at least 16 years old.
• You've held your permit for at least 12 months without any convictions or until you're 18 years old, whichever happens first.
• You've completed the 50 hours of behind-the-wheel driving practice (10 of which must be at night).

After you complete Level 12 and the Level 12 Assessment, you'll take the final course exam. The exam has 40 questions and you must score at least 80% or better (at least 32 out of 40 questions correct) in order to pass. If you fail the final exam, you can take it again. There is no limit on how many times you can take the final exam and you don't have to pay again to take it more than once.

You won't receive a paper or digital certificate from Aceable. Instead, we'll send your completion information to the Florida-authorized driving services once you finish the course. Your information gets processed automatically, and we'll email you when you're eligible to get your permit or license at your local Driver License Office. You do not need to present a certificate at the Driver License Office.

• You are at least 15 years old.
• You have completed the six-hour DETS course.
• You have completed and passed the written Knowledge Exam online with Aceable OR you have completed and passed the Knowledge Exam at your local Florida-authorized driving office.

Proof of Identification - Birth certificate (or a certified copy issued by state you were born in) or the United States Passport

Proof of Social Security Number - Original social security card or your W-2 showing your SSN

Proof of Residential Address - Home utility bill, cable bill, home telephone bill, etc. (Non-US Citizens must present proof of legal presence)

Parental Consent Form - You'll only need this form if you're an unmarried teen under 18 years old. One parent or legal guardian must sign your license application. Stepparents may not sign unless they have legally adopted you.

You must sign this at your local Florida-authorized driving office. A vehicle for the driving test - You have to be accompanied by a licensed driver if you don't have a valid license. If you need an interpreter, you can bring one for the test, but there can be no other passengers in the car.
