The Best Road Trip Route From Your Texas City

Fall season is right around the corner, which means that road trip season is quickly coming to a close. Living in Texas puts you in a prime spot to go visit some pretty cool places. Don’t feel like planning? No problem! We’ve done it for you. To help you live your best life, we’ve designed three incredible road trips leaving out of Texas’ biggest cities.

Houston > New Orleans > Memphis > Dallas > Houston

Our first road trip leaves out of Houston “Beyonce’s hometown” Texas. First stop: New Orleans! With its incredible food and laissez faire attitude, New Orleans makes for a great stop on any vacation. Hit up Frenchmen street to have a good time with the locals and stop in at Mr. B’s Bistro for the best burger you’ll ever have.

After New Orleans, head to Memphis, TN. Walk down Beale St to get your fill of blues and jazz, then go grab some famous Memphis BBQ and see how it compares to Texas BBQ! If you’re a big music lover, you might want to check out Sun Studios, where legends like Elvis and Johnny Cash recorded their biggest hits.

Head back to Texas after Memphis, making a pitstop in Dallas to check out all the cool new restaurants popping up in Deep Ellum!

Austin > San Antonio > Marfa > Ft. Worth > Austin

This one’s for the homebodies who don’t want to leave Texas. Leaving from Austin, this road trip lets you explore south, west, and north Texas. First, you’ll stop in San Antonio. Home of The Alamo (Remember that, anyone?), San Antonio offers a lot of cool insight into Texas’ history. Take a boat tour on the Riverwalk, or take a Foodie Tour to see what all the city has to offer.

Next, head west. Tucked away in the desert, Marfa is a tiny oasis full of art, food, culture, food, and fun. And did I mention food? Stay in a renovated RV at El Cosmico . Rent bikes and explore the town. Get a burrito the size of your head at Marfa Burrito . By the time your time in Marfa is over, you won’t want to leave. But you have to, because it’s time to go to Ft. Worth.

When you get to Ft. Worth, be sure and check out the Ft. Worth Stockyards National Historic District. This area hasn’t changed much since the 1800s, which is cool af, and also gives you a good glimpse into what the “wild, wild west” was like back in the day.

Dallas > Tulsa > Roswell > Carlsbad > Dallas

Tornadoes, aliens, and caverns, oh my! The first stop on this road trip is Tulsa, OK. This growing city is home to good music, food, and culture. Fun fact: Tulsa is home to 90s boy band, Hanson, and their record label, 3CG Records.

Next, head to Roswell, NM and storm Area 51 to find out the TRUTH. Just kidding, please don’t try to storm Area 51. That would not end well for you. Head into town to check out all the alien-themed restaurants, shops, and museums!

If you haven’t been kidnapped by aliens yet, head down to Carlsbad, NM. Carlsbad is home of the famous Carlsbad Caverns. These beautiful, natural caverns are considered by some to be the eighth wonder of the world. Definitely go check them out! Find more info here . After that, head home to Dallas and give everyone FOMO with your cool stories.

Now that we’ve laid out our choice road trips, pick your fave and GO!
